Health Comes from Within

At its core, chiropractic emphasizes that health comes from within.  Our bodies are more than just physical parts and biochemical pathways.  There is an innate intelligence inside each individual that knows exactly how to heal and regulate our own bodies; therefore, every single person has the opportunity to live out their fullest health potential as long as there is no interference.

If your body truly is self-healing and self-regulating, then you can begin to recognize symptoms as signs that the body is working to maintain health.  For example, when you or your child gets sick, is the germ attacking the body or is the body striving to overcome the germ and heal itself?  Common childhood ailments such as fever or vomiting can be seen as a healthy body doing what it needs to do to fight off invaders and make itself well, instead of symptoms that are viewed as an illness.  A fever is the body’s way of raising its temperature to kill off the bacteria or virus and vomiting is the body’s way of getting rid of something in the digestive tract that doesn’t belong there.  In this way, it is counterproductive to silence symptoms with drugs. Chiropractic supports the body’s ability to heal itself.  As a chiropractor, I identify and eliminate the cause of the body’s overload.  Once eliminated, the child’s nerve system can function better and heal naturally.  Chiropractic adjustments actually support and enhance normal body function rather than chemically altering symptoms with drugs.

The chiropractic wellness lifestyle encourages spinal checks to enhance nerve system function and overall health before symptoms appear.  However, it takes more than just spinal adjustments maintain optimal health.  The other, equally important part of the equation is that we must be mindful and make choices that support this concept that the body has its own intelligence.   It’s our lifestyle, and the physical, nutritional, and emotional stress we face on a daily basis, which impedes our expression of optimal health.  This means that we must consciously choose what goes into our bodies and those of our children, whether they are thoughts, foods, or actions. More to come on simple ways to achieve optimal health….
